Sexual Health – Men

Sexual health is not something that most patients are comfortable talking openly with their doctor about. Both men and women can experience sexual dysfunction at any age and at any stage in their lifetime. Researchers say that as many as 10 percent of men in their forties have a sexual dysfunction, but up to 80 percent of men older than 70 experience it. Sexual health can affect you emotionally, physically, mentally, and socially. There are many factors that affect sexual health such as chronic disease, emotional or physical trauma, low testosterone, cancer, prescription medications, tobacco and alcohol use, and many others.

Male sexual dysfunction is described as having one or more of these symptoms:

  • Decrease in sexual interest – low libido, loss of motivation and desire
  • Erectile dysfunction – difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection
  • Premature ejaculation – reaching orgasm too quickly
  • Delayed ejaculation – inability to reach orgasm or reaches it too slowly

Low libido is often associated with decreased testosterone levels. Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is available in many dosage forms (topical creams/gels, injectables, lozenges) compounded at a custom dose that can help with sexual interest.

Many men have tried the “little blue pill” with less than desired or no response. Potter’s House Apothecary has customized treatment options that can help. We offer dose adjustable penile injectables (alprostadil, Tri-Mix) that can help with erectile dysfunction and ejaculation function (don’t worry the needle is very, very small).

Potter’s House Apothecary also carries professional grade supplements that support hormone balance and may improve symptoms of sexual dysfunction.

We also offer private consultations to address sexual heath through hormone balance, lifestyle changes, and other factors. Visit our Consultations page to learn more.
