USP 795, 797 and 800 Compliant
United States Pharmacopeia (USP) is a nonprofit scientific organization that works to improve safety and quality standards in healthcare related to the medications we take and the foods we eat.
USP has established standards to ensure patients receive quality preparations that are free from contaminants and are consistent in intended identity, strength and potency. The standards for compounding pharmacies are issued in chapters and include 795, 797, and 800. These chapters include a number of requirements and are enforced by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and other governing authorities including the State Board of Pharmacy.
USP General Chapter <795> provides requirements for the compounding process, facilities, equipment, documentation, quality controls and training associated with patient safety.
USP General Chapter <797> outlines responsibilities of compounding personnel and their training, environmental monitoring, storage of chemicals and testing of finished preparations.
USP General Chapter <800> provides standards for safe handling of hazardous drugs to minimize the risk of exposure to healthcare personnel, patients and the environment.
The safety of our patients and personnel are our highest priority. At Potter’s House Apothecary, we have incorporated these standards into our daily operating procedures and believe compliance is essential to delivering safe, quality and effective compounds.
